Position Description

An excellent opportunity for a motivated and dynamic Business Analyst - Advanced in the Australian Public Service. The Business Analyst - Advanced will will focus on the planning, design and delivery of activities to implement a data management capability strategy. This strategy is an overarching program-level document that covers governance, people, process and management of data assets.

**Note: This business analyst role is not a technology architecture, infrastructure, applications or systems role. The focus is on organisational and operational change to improve business practices and staff knowledge in the management, use and release of data.

Duties:

Plan, organise and lead the activities of a team and individual team members
Be accountable for managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies, and evaluating business outcomes
Lead change and deal with uncertainty in a positive and flexible manner, share information with others and assist them to adapt and respond positively to changes
Plan, organise, lead and control user research; document test cases and conditions for various testing phases of business solutions
Be accountable for the accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements
Gather and investigate data and statistical information from a variety of sources to conduct business system and solution design
Engage with stakeholders on unique, very complex and/or sensitive issues
Recognise and resolve unique or ill-defined problems using professional knowledge and experience

Skills and experience required

experience working within a complex project environment
the ability to take a lead role in designing and implementing changed work practices
the ability to both take the lead on activities and to integrate with other teams to deliver outcomes
an understanding of data stewardship practices, data governance arrangements, data management across the lifecycle, and the release of information
